The Learning School
In the school year 2002-2003 our school joined The Learning
School programme developed by the Centre for Citizenship
Education. The major objective of the programme is to improve
the quality of work at school covering various spheres connected
with its proper functioning. Another aim or rather advantage of
participating in the programme is that all the schools are
supposed to help and support each other. There are two levels in
which the programme is carried out.
The level of Diagnosis
The level of diagnosis involves making assessment the purpose of
which is to evaluate the quality of work at school. This
evaluation is made using questionnaires prepared by CEO. What
comes as a result of this assessment is a report prepared by a
different school. In our school such a diagnosis was made in
September 2002. The report was prepared entirely on the basis of
the questionnaires and later on written by the diagnosticians
from the Public Comprehensive School in Lniano. The presentation
of the report took place during a teaching staff meeting in
January 2003. The leaders of diagnosis from our school prepared
a similar report about The Complex of Comprehensive and
Secondary Schools in Ratajki near Chodzież.
The level of standards
This level started from a careful analysis of the report
prepared by the teachers. The next step involved forming Task
Teams the members of which set the standards in each section
which constitute the school quality map: I .Education results,
II. Teaching and learning, III. School as institution, IV.
School and the external environment. During the next teaching
staff meetings all the teachers participating in the programme
discussed the most important areas of the school work. They set
standards and the most important objectives they wished to
achieve. Additionally they also determined the success
indicators in each area. This stage hasn’t finished yet. It
started in November 2003 so for the last eight years we have
been formulating various ideas and implementing certain tools
intended to help our school design and bring about satisfying
changes. There has been a number of trainings provided by CEO
trainers. Our directors(Ewa Joachimiak and Józef Ryzop) and the
leaders of diagnosis(Katarzyna Lewandowska, Hanna Kalinowska)
and the leaders of standards (Anna Gazińska, Anna Koszur, Ewa
Kordylewska) took part in those trainings.
